Independence Day is defined for many by fireworks, outdoor concerts and parades. Now that the holiday is here, you can pick how (and where) you want to celebrate in towns all over Mercer County.

The festivities kick off on July 1. In Hamilton, the annual concert and fireworks at Veterans Park will start at 6:30 p.m., with a concert by the Fabulous Greaseband. Fireworks are at 9. (Rain date is July 3.)

In Princeton, spectators can let their “oohs” and “ahhs” out during a display at Clarke Field, near the football stadium on the Princeton University campus, at 9 p.m.

On July 2, Lawrence will host a performance at Rider University by the Kindred Spirits starting at 7:30 and ending at the start of the fireworks display, beginning at dark between 9:30 and 9:45.

Ewing, Hopewell and Pennington all have events planned for July 4. In Ewing, a parade organized by the Ewing Township Patriotic Committee will depart from Olden and Parkside avenues at 10 a.m. and end at Ewing High School. The parade marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War.

In Titusville, Independence Day festivities will begin at 10 a.m., and parades, including a bike parade and a baby parade, start at 11.

On the same day in Pennington, there will be races for children age 3-12 at the high school track starting at 9:15 a.m. At night, there will be a concert by Chris Dean at Kunkel Park from 7 to 9 p.m. In the case of rain, it will be rescheduled for July 8 at Howe Commons, 65 South Main Street.

On July 15, in Robbinsville, ’80s tribute band Ridgemont High will perform at Community Park (West Manor Way and Gordon Road) at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9.
