The Hamilton Girls Softball Association had never had one of its Hurricanes travel teams win a Babe Ruth Softball Middle Atlantic Regional championship on the 8-and-under level until this past summer. There were plenty of reasons including five players who have been rewarded with All-Tournament certificates from the tournament selection committee.

The all-tournament selections who were honored January 16 at HGSA were Nicole Cerasi, Lauren Cioante, Natalie Mehl, and twin sisters Emily and Rebecca Ludowig.

Manager Matt Mehl’s all-star squad won five of its six tournaments this season, including the Babe Ruth District One, Southern New Jersey State and the nine-team Middle Atlantic Regional, while finishing 22-1, including 19 straight wins to end the tournament season.

Other team members were Ashley Veisz, the game MVP of the Middle Atlantic Regional-clinching win, Alex Haley, Shae Harrill, Kara Huchel, Amy Jones, Haley Lestician and Jessica Pirozzi. Joe Cerasi, Pete Lestician and Cindy Pirozzi formed Mehl’s coaching staff.
