According to state police, Paris Moore, 28, had apparently jumped the division between the north and southbound lanes of the Turnpike and was attempting to cross the highway when he was struck by a vehicle in the center lane.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Moore has not been charged, although state police say the accident is still under investigation.

Southbound lanes were shut down and traffic was diverted onto exit 7-A, causing major traffic backups and delays.
